GREEN DESERT ART

Original watercolor on 140# quality cold-pressed watercolor paper. I painted this scene of the Mojave River in the High Desert of California for an art competition for the Town of Apple Valley, California. The theme of the competition was "Green Apple," and the idea was to promote environmental concerns of the area. "Return the Respect" was submitted with a poem, and I will happily provide it if anyone is interested in having it with the painting or a print. "Return the Respect" was awarded first place, and it and the poem were published in the Town of Apple Valley calendar 2009. The background is the San Gabriel Mountains which the San Andreas fault runs through. The early American Indian tribes called the Mojave River the "River of Healing." It was a sacred place where all conflicts were set aside. A Certificate of Authenticity is included. All copyrights are retained by Melinda Greve, the artist, and are not transferred to purchaser.
